Dream

Week of Nov 27, 2023.

Dream one.

I was in the jungle. Dark. Moonlight was the only light leading the way. I kept treading the thick jungle, swallowed by nothing but forest and trees. Suddenly, I entered a space that looked like a small village enclosed by the surrounding forest around it. There were Hmong people just carrying on their normal day. No one's faces looked familiar to me... The village was made up of only a few hay huts, traditional Hmong houses. I then see my yawg (grandpa). Remembering him having passed away a few months ago, I ran to him. He looked so happy, smiling, and carrying tree logs he probably had just cut.

"Yawg! Ua cas koj nyob ntawm no nas (grandpa! why are you here)?, I asked. He pat my back as I hugged him and just kept smiling. No response. No voice. No noise at all in this jungle. I woke up.

Dream two.

We were on a farm somewhere. I remember seeing a dozen few Hmong people, loudly talking, laughing, and making jokes. Hmong men together, drinking, and cracking jokes. My aunties and the women working hard and cooking. I see an elderly Hmong man dragging and pulling a big bull. The bull was black, big, long horns on each side. As I approached him, he said to me this bull was for my yawg (grandpa). I looked around and I saw my yawg walking around everyone. He was slowly walking like he would when he was here with us. He'd laugh at the guys and their jokes; walk around and tell the women to go eat. I shouted for my yawg and ran towards him.

He let out a, “Ohhhh Koj tuaj thiab (you come here too).” As I approached and hugged him, I woke up right away.
